Since the late 19th century Zuni artisans have been crafting "Squash Blossom" necklaces. Their design merges Spanish and Moorish influences. Including blossom elements inspired by pomegranates and later interpreted as squash blossoms. All of which surround a large central crescent shaped  "naja" pendant. Which is mean to represent the evil eye - symbol of good luck.

This vintage necklace with matching pair of earrings is crafted or solid sterling silver using the intricate "petit point" technique.  Developed in the 1920's - 30's , it features tiny hand-cut uniformly shaped turquoise stones that are set individually in sawtooth sterling silver bezels.

Sterling silver necklace measures 22.5" long with a 2.25" x 2.25" "naja" pendant. And a total of 248 turquoise stones.

Each earring measures .50" high x .38" wide. Made of sterling silver with 5 stones  post and backing clasp.

This piece is unsigned.
