From the collection of a rug connosieur who is "down-sizing".

Tabriz is the capital of the East Azarbaijan province of what was once Persia. Considered to be one of the oldest weaving centers - the art of Tabriz carpets reached it's zenith in the 12th - 16th centuries. Since then these timeless designs have been re-created in finely knotted and trimmed rugs.

This lovely carpet was crafted sometime in the second half of the twentieth century. It's "prayer rug" design features a large curvilinear center panel that points upward on a unique rust/apricot colored ground. Persian prayers are integrated throughout an intricate design of floral and foliate elements. All in a range of gold, brown, blue, taupe, and black hues. Thirteen hand-tied knots run in a line per inch for a total of 169 knots per square inch.

Measures 54" wide x 66" Long (4'5" x 5'5").

Overall condition is excellent vintage with surface dirt and no visible areas of wear. With the exception of some fringe loss on one corner. Note:  this rug was in a home with pets prior and has not been cleaned. See photos for details.
