A very fine rug from the collection of a connosieur who is "down-sizing".

 

Hand woven and knotted in the city of Isfahan in thge foothills of Zagros mountains. Throughout the ages a broad range of cultures have influenced the designs of this area. Resulting in intricately woven patterns unique to this area. This exceptional carpet was created sometime in the mid 20th century. Tightly woven of the finest "Kork" wool which comes solely from the neck section of sheep. Creating a weft that is exceptionally silky soft and durable due to a high degree of natural fat within.  

 

Features a rare black ground. Surrounded by a rich red border. Finely detailed center medalion, floral and foliate patterns a range or beige, brown, grey, lavender, rose, and pale mint green. Twenty hand-tied asymetrical knots run in a line per inch for a total of 400 knots per square inch.

 

Isfahan  carpets of similar age, size, and quaility usually sell from $10,000 to $18,000. Fortunately for you - the consigner has instructed us to price this beauty "to SELL".

 

Measures 117" wide (9' 7")  x 168" long (14').

 

Overall condition is excellent vintage with no visible surface or edge wear of note. See photos for details. However there is wear and loss to the top/bottom edge fringe. Note: This rug was previously in a home with dogs prior and has not been professionally cleaned since then.
