A very fine rug from the collection of a connosieur who is "down-sizing".

 

Hand woven and knotted in the holy city of Qum -  this exceptional carpet was created sometime in the mid 20th century. Woven of the finest "Kork" wool which comes solely from the neck section of sheep. Creating a weft that is exceptionally silky soft and durable due to a high degree of natural fat within.  

 

Features a rich red panel ground. Surrounded by a rare pale blue border. Finely detailed center medalion surrounded by an intricate patter of grape vines laded with fruit in a range of navy, beige, sage green, peach, pale blue, and black. Fourteen hand-tied asymetrical knots run in a line per inch for an approximate total of 196 knots per square inch.

 

Qum rugs have long been consider amongst the finest Persian rugs produced. Hence carpets of similar age, size, and quaility usually sell from $8,000 to $14,000. Fortunatley for you - the consigner has instructed us to price this beauty "to SELL".

 

Measures 100" wide (8' 3")  x 146" long (12' 2").

 

Overall condition is excellent vintage with no visible surface or edge wear of note. See photos for details. However there is substantial loss to the top/bottom edge fringe. Note: This rug was previously in a home with dogs prior and has not been professionally cleaned since then.
