Since the 18th century porcelain collectors have coveted the elusive and rare Gardner Russian "Islamic" pattern. This plate was produced in Japan sometime in the mid-20th century. And features an adaptation of the "Islamic" pattern with a deep oxblood red/burgundy ground with an intricate foliate pattern in green, white, and gold. Plus for medallions around a central circular panel portraying a Chinese table with a floral bouquet upon it. Marked with an eagle insignia and the words "MADE IN JAPAN" on back.
 
Measures 13.5" diameter x 1.75" high.
