For centuries artisans in Deruta Italy have been hand-painting terracotta pottery. The distinctive "Galletto" (Rooster) pattern dates originating in Orvieto during the Renaissance. This pair of extra large coffee cups and saucers are in the "Green" color way. The "green" being much closer to turquoise or blue-green in hue wit accents of black, red, and yellow. Hand-crafted at the Grazia Pottery in Deruta sometime in the late twentieth century. Both saucers are marked "Grazia Deruta Italy) on their bottoms. Both cups are marked "Deruta Italy" on their bottoms.
Rarely available - each set measures 3" high x 7.5" diameter. The cup rim measures 5" diameter. The span from cup rim to handle outer edge measures 6.25".
All four pieces are in EXCELLENT condition with no cracks, chips, crazing, scuffing, or issues of note. There are some variations and "blips" under the glaze itself which are naturally inherent with this type of dinnerware. See photos for details.
