Takahashi Ushio was born in Fukuoaka, Japan in 1944. Subsequently graduating from the renowned Musashino University of Fine Arts Tokyo in 1970. His body of work is done in Mezzotint - an intaglio printmaking technique. Capturing the evocative and sensual beauty of Japanese women.

 

This mezzotint portrays a woman within an embellished oval with her lingerie draped over it's bottom. Originally created for Takahashi's friends and associates in celebration of the 1998 new year. Number 84 of 150 -it is signed and dated by the artist with an additional embossed signature. Purchased in the late 1990's at the highly esteemed Kanda's B-O-Q Gallery in Tokyo (see reverse for details). Black wood frame, silk mat, gold bevel inset. 

 

Wood frame measures 8.5" wide x 10.5" high x 1" deep.

Image only measures 3.25" wide x 4.38" high.

 

Appears to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible folds, foxing, creases, rips, fading, or issues of note. However we have not removed from the framei Therefore we cannot confirm whether the framing, mat, and materials used therein are acid free. Nor if the non-glare glass is museum quality UV filtering.
