Extra large pair of hand colored print framed in top quality faux bois and gilt Italian frame with glass. Part of Giovanni Battista Piranesi's (1720-1778) final published portfolio of etchings circa 1778 . We believe this work of art is a later issue. Imprinted on laid paper and hand tinted. Features "parchment" patterned mat with hand painted gilt interior edge and border rule. Based on the label on its reverse - this was framed in Italy sometime in the late 20th century. Frame measures 30.23" wide x 35.75" high x 1.5" deep. Art opening measures 17.5" wide x 22.5" high. Quite frankly we are not art experts. Hence we have not removed the back and examined this etching more closely. All that we know is that it is a quality piece. And highly decorative in appearance alone. The etching is in excellent condition - there is no indication of "foxing', along with marks, folds, rips, or creases of note. There is a VERY, VERY, slight "wave" to the paper beneath the glass. The frame itself has some minor "dings" and marks (barely visible) commensurate with age/use. See photos for details.
