Extremely charming pair of hand-crafted mid-century modern art pottery birds. Research indicates they probably represent a pair of ruffed grouse. Hand-sculpted of terra-cotta they are glazed with "Lava Scavo" reactive glaze. Resulting in a range of hues from turquoise to blue to green to pale yellow and ivory. Both pieces are unsigned however are quite reminiscent of Bitossi pieces of the period. Exceptionally large - the female (spread tail) measures 14" long x 4.5" wide x 5.75" high. The male measures 10." long x 4" wide x 4.5" high. In excellent vintage condition with NO chips, structural cracks, surface loss, or issues of note.
