This "Purnavarpunen" - Rosy Finch was first issued by Iittala Finland in 2001. With limited production ending in 2007.  Designed by Oiva Toikka  (1931 - 2019). A Finnish design icon, he was known for his glass art. This piece is part of a series of "Toiikka Birds" which started in 1972. Each bird was crafted of mouth-blown glass. The result was a unique blend of Toikka's playful creativity and traditional Finnish craftsmanship.  Given each bird was produced in limited quantities - they are now highly sought by collectors worldwide
 
Deep red/brown "oxblood" body. 
Transparent head with white pattern and bubbles. 
Black applied beak.
Measures 4.5" long x 2.75" wide x 3" high
Etched signature on base reads "O. Toikka Nuutajarvi". 
 
In excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, surface etching, or issues of note. Includes its original booklet "Toikka Birds" in very good condition. See photos for details.
