The origins of the "Roemer" goblet stretch back to the Roman empire. Evolving over time in Germany until it reached perfection in the 17th century. In which a transparent bowl in the shape of a hemisphere is superimposed above a coiled green glass stem/base.
This set of fourteen "Roemer" dates from the 1970s. Featuring hand-painted bands of grapes. vines, and foliage on each goblet. Along with the worn remnants of a gold top rim band. Each stands at 4.5" high x 3" diameter (at widest point of goblet bowl).
In very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, etching, or clouding. Most of the painted bands have some minor loss - specifically a few of the grapes are pale or missing. All but a few of the goblets have no or very little of the original gold rim intact. See photos for details.
