A rare and unique pair of Chinoiserie eglomise (reverse painted antiqued mirror) cocktail tables in the manner of Maison Jansen. One top features a Chinese lady with peonies and garlands. The other a gentleman with similar embellishments. Both octagonal mirrored panel tops are inset into a carved gessoed and painted wood frame set atop a pedestal base.
Each table measures 18"H x 20"W x 20"D.
Both are in very good vintage condition with issues commensurate with age/use. Overall the reverse mirror paint is intact and stable. With the exception of some gilding loss on the "male" version which appears to have been repainted. Both glass tops have some surface scratches.The corner of one top has a flake/chip on the back. Both bases have some paint loss - one more than the other. All of the above only adds to the charm of these lovely accent tables. See photos for details.
