This finely detailed sculpture of a calla lily plant was produced by Cybis sometime between 1968 and 1974. Beautiful hand painted "Cybis Parian" white bisque porcelain body. Includes its original custom hand-crafted wooden base with cork lined well and felt covered bottom. Marked "Cybis" number 274 of a limited edition of 500. Which started in 1968 and ended by 1974. The original issue price for this piece was $750. Which with inflation equals an investment of almost $7,000 in today's dollars.
Cybis was founded by sculptor Boleslaw Cybis circa 1953 in Trenton New Jersey. This piece was designed by the firm's artistic director - Marilyn Kozuch. Cybis ended production sometime in the early 2000's.
