This beautiful hand-carved amethyst censer was created by Chinese artisans. Most likely during the later part of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Designed to burn incense which subtly illuminated the semi-precious stone body with a radiant glow. The lid features a leaf top finial with four ringed handles. Along with inscribed decoration around its lower rim. The bowl has two ringed handles and inscribed decoration. Both the lid and bowl have perforations from which the incense emanated. The pedestal has a carved center with four ringed embellishments. Beneath which the bottom sits with an inscribed decorative.border. This piece was purchased by a collector in China during the 1990's and has two stickers affixed to its lid. One reads "Amethyst $995". The other - "A 885".
Measures 11.5" high x 9.5" wide (bowl handles edge to edge) x 7" deep.
In very good antique condition. This iid of this piece has been damaged at sometime time and includes an old repair/restoration with reassemble/glued pieces.
