For thousands of years Philippines potters have been creating vessels for many uses. This beautiful piece comes from Mindanao - the second largest island in the Philippines. Crafted by members of the Manobo tribe it was used for food or water storage. Features bands of incised and raised decoration. Purchased in the 1960s by an American tourist - it most likely dates from the 18th to 19th centuries. Today it is if nothing else an amazing decorative statement with a patina that can only be acquired by centuries of use.
