From the rug collection of a "down-sizing" connosieur.

"Boteh" means budding flower or plant in Farsi. It can also be translated as a "cluster of leaves". This ancient design stands for growth and regenration in the Persian culture. The "Boteh" are a "paisley" shape reminiscent of a tear drop, flame, or pine cone.

Upon this early 20th century rug they appear in blue and white in a repetitive pattern over a red center field. Bordered by floral and leave patterns in blue and red hues upon red, white, and blue bands. Fourteen hand-tied knots run a line per inch for a total of 196 knots per square inch.
