Standing at over forty inches high this antique "souvenir" is hard to forget. In the 18th and 19th centuries every tourist returned with an architectural model such as this. Measuring 40.5" high x 20.5" wide x 19" deep it soars above all other Grand Tour momentos. Crafted of hand-carved, gessoed, gilded, and marbleized wood sometime in the 19th century. The perfect addition to a front hall, library, or even a kitchen island. While not labeled or marked it is obviously of Italian origin. Possibly Florentine given the gilt technique. In very good antique condition. The structure itself is sturdy and stable. Various old cracks, gaps, wood worm oles, and other indications of a life well spent. Surface paint and gilding show signs of wear commensurate with antique age/use. Several areas of paint loss have been stablized and restored at some point in the past. All of which only add to it's glorious patina and presence.
