Unmarked, this antique cast iron statuette of a Chinese bird keeper appears to be 19th century. All of the Chinoiserie details seem to indicate that this pieces is of European origin. The statuette's surface has been waxed and painted to simulate bronze. It sits upon a wooden block painted black. Statuette itself measures 3,25" wide x 2.75" deep x 10.25" high. With base included the overall measurements are 4" wide x 3.25" deep x 13.25" high. In very good antique condition. Statuette has no cracks, dents, chips, or missing elements. Surface appears to have been purposefully patinated. Based is solid with one crack running along back left. See photos for details.
