Late 19th Century hand painted Chinese red lacquer bamboo box with fitted lid . Gilt and black decoration portrays flora in a bonsai planter. Originally used to store hats - it is the perfect size to protect whatever treasure out of sight. Measures 10" diameter x 7.75" high. The fitted lid does not appear to be original as the decoration does not align with that on the lower section. In very good antique condition. Lower portion paint/Lacquer has various marks and "dings" commensurate with antique age and years of use. Upper lid paint finish has more wear/tear on it - see photos for details.
