From the rug collection of a "down-sizing" connosieur.
This antique hand-knotted Persian Bidjar rug was woven by Kurdish villagers near Bijar the capital city of Krudistan in what wasn once known as Persia.
Dates from the early 20th century. Features a rare dark blue ground. Upon which is centered a medallion with two arrows eminating out. Plus an intricate patterned border. All in a range of reds, beige, and browns over the blue ground. Fine hand knots run a line of about 16 hand-tied knots per inch for a total of 256 knots per square inch.
Measures 51" (4 foot 2 and a half inches) wide x 73" (6 feet 1 inch) long x 0.25" high.
Overall condition is very good antique. Including some surface dirt, surface loss, fringe stains, and selvedge snags. plus minor wear commensurate with age and use. Note: This rug was in a home with pets prior and has not been cleaned. See photos for details.
