In 1945 two Japanese Americans met as captives in the Topaz Internment Camp in Delta Utah. There they dreamed of opening a store. After their release in 1945 they did just that. Based in San Francisco - The Takahashi Trading Company grew to become a leading US importer and retailer of Japanese crafts and decorative home goods. At their peak they owned store across the country. From Geary Street in San Francisco to 57th Street in Manhattan. Offering high-end and unique goods at exceptional prices until the company closed in 2019 post the death of it's founders.
Set of four pair (8 total) of hand-decorated porcelain demitasse espresso cups and saucers in the exclusive Takahashi "Kutani" pattern. Each hand decorated with a cobalt blue, green, and deep yellow floral pattern. Plus 22 carat gold embellishment.
All four cups and four saucers are in excellent vintage condition. Like new - they appear to have never been used. No chips, cracks, crazing, and glaze or gold loss. See photos for details.
