Since its start in 1951 in Helena, Montana - the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic arts has nurtured and developed several generations of the world's leading ceramic artisans. One of them was Florence Stermitz - a rancher's wife who became an accomplished "Bray" potter during the seventies and eighties. The result being works such as this finely crafted covered jar/pot. Its delicately thrown body glazed with a brutalist "stroke" pattern in tobacco brown over a white ground.
