In 1955 at the behest of French President Rene Coty - artist Jean Bertholle designed this iconic platter. As part of a hand-painted service for created for the presidential chateau set in the Rambouillet forest. A large "cerf" (stag) is placed upon a background of forest foliage. The Gien castle imprint on its' back dates this platter between 1960 through 1971. Measures 17.5" wide x 13" high x 1.18" deep. In EXCELLENT condition with no cracks, chips, crazing, surface scratches or issues of note. Except for a light "scuff" on the reverse side. See photos for details.
