Introduced in 1938 - "Historic America" transfer ware was produced by Johnson Brothers until the early 1970s. It featured a broad range of scenes based on antique engravings including those by Currier & Ives. Rare - this set of six pairs of flat bottom demitasse (coffee) cups and saucers in blue and white exhibit an early rendering of the "Presidents" i.e. White House in Washington D.C. Along with a border on the saucer of oak leaves.
Nestled together - each pair measures 2..5" high x 4.5" wide.
All six cup and saucer sets are in very good vintage condition with no cracks, crazing, staining, or surface scratches. One cup has an under glaze (original) chip on its bottom rim which is only visible on close inspection. Two saucers have a small "flea bite" chip on their rims. Only found via touch as they are not easily visible to the naked eye. See photos for details.
